Ido Michaeli was born in Petah Tikva, 1980, lives and works in Tel Aviv. Michaeli has a Master's degree from the Fine Art Department at Bezalel, a Bachelor's degree from the Visual Communications Department at Bezalel and a diploma from HaMidrasha College of Art Received the 2012 Young Artist Award.
In his artistic practice Michaeli engages with iconography (the study of symbols). His works impart an "official" feeling. They trace the trappings of government, yet at a second glance, reveal themselves as parodies with a far more complex identity. The projected work "Track and Trace" (2009-2010), is a multi referential diagram that spreads Michaeli's artistic course of action before the viewer, step by step. The web of references, arrows and threads delineates the mechanisms of mapping and the conceptual development of his creation and generates a deceptive genealogical logic, which shifts between artistic power mechanism and institutional strategies. "Track and Trace" was first exhibited in the show "Collections" (curator: Tami Katz Freiman), Haifa Museum of Art.
